Distribution Co-ordinator
PURPOSE OF JOB
To oversee and manage the on-time deliveries of feed to the company’s customers on a daily basis and be responsible to facilitate the maintenance and upkeep of a fleet of trucks.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Administration
- Uphold shift roster for drivers two weeks in advance
- Responsible for risk and safety assessment for on farm deliveries and to ensure that procedures are adhered to. Ensure silo inspection on farms are done and documented.
- To follow the correct procedures and processes regarding procurement
- Submit driver’s schedules for payment to HR by the 16th of each month
Fleet Management
- Schedule deliveries daily, in conjunction with the customer liaison administrator.
- To maintain an efficient and reliable fleet of trucks by ensuring that the maintenance of the trucks is planned according to schedule to avoid unplanned downtime.
- To maximise the efficiencies of the trucks and drivers by utilising the Vehicle Tracking system and to continually evaluate the driver’s performance.
- To make sure that there is a full complement of experienced drivers available by following the recruiting procedure and doing relevant driving and reference checks.
- To operate the fleet of trucks within the budgeted cost parameters.
- Control of the spares and consumables of the fleet of tankers to ensure that the spares are on hand when needed.
- Responsible to ensure that the trucks are maintained in a presentable and acceptable roadworthy condition by implementing processes and checks.
Leadership and Human recourses
- Comply and implement De Heus SA Leadership and Human Resources procedures and work instructions.
- Continually strive to improve teamwork with employees.
- Manage production employee relation climate and ensure corrective and disciplinary action is taken where required in line with relevant legislation and company policy.
- Manage distribution staff time keeping, leave roster and attendance in line with Company procedure.
- Request recruitment of distribution staff and organise exit medicals.
Daily Operations
- Ensure that drivers have valid PDE and are renewed when applicable .
- Ensure that drivers maintain our good image in the marketplace.
- Responsible to ensure that there is always enough diesel stock .
- Ensure trip sheets are done and documentation filed.
- Ensure correct loading of vehicles
Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
- Matric (Grade 12 Certificate)
- Diploma in transportation would be an added advantage.
- Valid Code EC driver’s license (no endorsements)
- No criminal record
- 3 Years previous proven experience in bulk tanker deliveries essential.
- 3 Years previous Production experience, preferably in the Milling Industry.
- Customer liaison experience essential.
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience
- Working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word
- Knowledge of vehicle tracking systems
