Financial Manager
PURPOSE OF JOB
Overall responsibility for the administrative and financial affairs of the company, including financial planning and budgeting, reporting, cost control and cost analysis programs and IT & IS Departments.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Finance & Administration, IS and IT Staff
- Ensure adequate, competent and well-trained motivated staff compliment.
Financial reporting
- Timely and correct financial and administrational recording, record-keeping and reporting, including preparation of management and statutory information for internal, board-level, and external stakeholder use and interpretation.
- Preparation of the annual financial statements in terms of generally accepted accounting practice and performing all yearend accounting functions.
- Preparing and reviewing the monthly management accounts
- Completing the annual tax return.
- Ensuring that company tax affairs are handled correctly and within legal parameters.
- Complying with De Heus Global Management Guidelines for finance and administration
Company Secretary
- Compliance with relevant statutory and other legislation.
- Keeping all companies’ statutory records up to date.
Company assets
- Safeguarding the assets and interests of the company and its shareholders by advising the CEO, Board and other stakeholders about the financial health of the organization.
- Ultimately responsible for accounts receivables.
- Implementing the principles of transparency and good corporate governance insofar as they apply to the financial and administrational function.
- Adequate Insurance – Ongoing monitoring and implementation.
- Asset control - Implement systems and controls to control and monitor assets.
Financial Budget
- Preparing and reviewing the annual budget.
- Liaison with financial institutions to raise finance facilities and structure financial packages.
- Monitor and provide for adequate daily cash flow for the company to meet its financial commitments.
- Weekly, monthly and annual reporting of actual business results relative to the annual budget according set timeframes for both the local organization and the De Heus Global organization.
Investments
- Participating in and contributing to investment and other strategic decision-making. This will also require doing the financial feasibility calculations for planned investments and doing profitability analysis on strategic long-term plans
IT and IS Departments
Ensuring the following outputs from the IT(Information Technology) and IS(Information Systems/ERP) departments:
IT:
- Adequate, stable and reliable computer and server networks.
- Reliable and effective security and firewall protection of companies financial and administrative information.
- An efficient and effective IT support desk.
- Backup system that meet the company’s requirements.
- Complying with the De Heus Global Management Guidelines.
IS:
- Design and development, administration and monitoring of information systems of which ERPXL (our ERP system) and SAP/BPC (our consolidation software) are the most important, to support organizational strategy and information processing needs and requirements.
- Adequate, stable and reliable ERP and DHApps systems.
- Ensure financial and administrative integrity of the ERP and DHApps systems.
- Ensure that the ERP and DHApps systems meet the evolving business requirements.
- An efficient and effective IS support desk.
- Complying with the De Heus Global Management Guidelines.
COMPETENCIES
KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
- Matric
- Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Accounting and Taxation)
- Registered and in good standing with CAIPA or SAICA
- Degree in Accounting
Legal requirements:
- Possession of a valid code 08/EB driver’s license
Experience:
- 5 Years’ experience in in a similar position and preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Sound knowledge of MS Excel
Knowledge:
- Intermediate to advance knowledge of MS Excel
- Conceptually understands an ERP system and data warehouse functions.

Adverse Working Conditions
Travelling: More or less 4 different weeks in the year, on rare occasion may be two weeks on a single incident without returning home over the weekend in the middle.
